GST ARN number is an acronym for (Application Reference Number). This number is needed to check for GST status. The GST ARN number is automatically created on the GST Portal when one submits a GST registration application. On generating this number, it can then be used for GST tracking status of registration application till issuance of the GST Certificate and GSTIN by the Indian Government.
ARN Number Generation
ARN number is gotten from the GST Portal after submitting your application on the GST portal. Once you generate the GST ARN number, you will be able to keep track of your GST registration application status easily.
How to Check GST ARN Status
Once your GST ARN registration has been made, you can check the status easily online on the GST Portal. The steps below will help you to check the GST ARN status:
Step 1: Access GST Portal at https://gst.gov.in
In the main menu, click on Track Application Status under Services

The following are the different types of ARN Number Status with its meaning.
Form Assigned to Approving Officer
The application for GST is assigned to an Officer whose duty is to approve your GST registration on behalf of the Government.
Pending for Clarification
The officer processing the clarification request on the GST registration application will ask you to submit your request through the GST Portal within a stipulated period.
Clarification Filed – Pending for Order
This occurred when clarification was sought by the applicant within the stipulated time. An acceptance order will be communicated by the GST Officer.
Clarification NOT Filed – Pending for Order
This occurred when clarification was not sought by the applicant within the stipulated time. A rejection order will be communicated by the GST Officer.
Application Approved
Approved GST registration by the GST Officer will be received shortly.
Application Rejected
If the registration of GST application were rejected by the GST Officer, you would need to reapply if the GST registration is so important to you.
