Transgender PAN Card: Process of Application

The government has introduced PAN application for the transgender PAN card after establishing transgender as the third gender in order to help them upgrade their gender to the “transgender” status in their PAN cards. In the new form of application for the PAN, the applicant has been enabled to choose “transgender” as a gender option during the process of application.

If the person already has a PAN card, he or she can request an application of transgender PAN card with selecting Gender as Transgender. The person is not required to deposit or submit any document supporting his correction during the process of alteration of gender to Transgender through the process of the application for change. The process of updating the gender of the PAN card to the newly admitted gender Transgender will be discussed in the following passages.

Updating Transgender PAN card

In order to upgrade the gender on the PAN card to “transgender”, the application made for the change of information for the PAN card for the transgender can be used. A step by step guideline has been presented below which will assist the applicant to successfully do the PAN correction.

Step 1: The modes through which the application of updating the PAN card can be submitted either online or offline are as follows.

Step 2: Download the application form of the new PAN card where the changes in the gender area has been done.

Step 3: The applicant has to input all the necessary information in full in all the columns and give the existing number for PAN near the beginning. You have to fill in the form in BLOCK LETTERS corrigibly and preferably with black ink. Moreover, keep in mind that the form has to be filled up in English language only. Also, it is illegal to own more than one PAN in any time. Therefore, during the process of form fill up, it is necessary to provide the PAN which is already existing. Furthermore, if the applicant has more than one existing PAN, he should fill up the details in the area no. 11 of the new form and then submit it.

Step 4: On the left hand side of the form of application, there is the gender selection area where you can change your gender. Select the option Transgender in that area. No additional evidence or document has to be submitted along with this form for the change of the gender. Therefore, no documents are required to be submitted to obtain the transgender PAN card.

Step 5: The applicant can submit the form application as he pleases, either online or offline. The fee decided for obtaining the application form for PAN is Rs 110 with the inclusion of GST. However, if the PAN is to be sent outside of India, then there will be an additional charge of Rs 910 along with the existing fee that has to be paid by the one who is applying.

How to Request Tracking for the PAN Change

After the submission of the application, an acknowledgement will be given to the applicant containing the unique number of acceptance of the form of application. This new number will then be used for keeping track of the status of the application by the modes given below:
