How to Apply for the Smart Card

Step 1: First, you have to log into the website of the Public Distribution System of Tamil Nadu state by clicking on this link http://www.tnpds.gov.in and select the language you prefer to carry on the process of application.
Step 2: Next, you will find the option called “Smart Card Application” which is located below the services section of the “Smart Card Application”. Click on this option to proceed.
Step 3: A new window with the form of application will be opened. You have to fill in all the boxes in the application form with proper information about yourself as required.
Step 4: After entering in your details, it is time attach a photograph to the form. The photograph has to belong to the head of the family and the format of the photograph any be any of the following – jpeg, gif, png or jpg. Make sure that the file size must be below 10 kilobytes.
Step 5: Next, the proof of the residence has to be uploaded. The size of the file cannot exceed 100 kilobytes and the format can vary from jpeg, png, pdf or gif.
Step 6: After you have given in all the information and required documents such as photographs and proof of the residence, click on the option called Submit and you are done.
Step 7: Once you have submitted the application form, you will receive a reference number. You can use this number later if you want to check the status of your smart card Tamilnadu.
How to Update the Smart Cards
Follow the steps given below in order to update the Smart Cards

The photograph has to belong to the head of the family and the format of the photograph any be any of the following – jpeg, gif, png or jpg. Make sure that the file size must be below 10 kilobytes. After you are done, click on the option called Submit to proceed.
