Ration card
Ration card is a legal document issued by state government to the households ,who are eligible to purchase subsidized food grain from the public distribution system according to the economical basis of the family under the national food security act of the department of food, civil supplied &consumer affairs of government.
It may also serves as common identification for many Indians.
Types of ration card
Under National food security act, all state government of India has to identify the households that are eligible for purchasing subsidized food grain from the public distribution system.
The Government provides different colour of ration card to different categorized family on the basis of their economy(on the basis of income).
Above poverty line ration card:-
it is a yellow colour card issued by government to family have an annual income above 15000.
This households will receive about 15kg food grain based on the availability.
State food yojana card :- it is a white colour card,
Issued to family have an annual income below 15000.
Criteria and quantity of material differ in every state.
Below poverty line Ration card :- it is a white card,
Issued to family below the poverty line.
The household receives 25to 35 kg of food grains.
Antyodaya anna yojana :- it is a pink colour ration card,
This card is issued to the poorest of poor household,
They get 35 kg food grains.
Annapurna yojana:- it is a green colour card,
Issued to senior citizen of 60 or 65 years who don’t have any pension facilities.
Benefits of ration card
The government of provides a subsidy for essential food items and commodities for ration card holders. The essential food items, commodities and goods that the civil supplies department authorities supply to the ration card holders are as follows:-
Rice, wheat sugar etc.
Petroleum oil, kerosene, LPG.etc.
It can be used as identity and address proof.
For applying passport and PAN card it is mandatory.
Eligibility criteria:-
An applicant who doesn’t have a ration card
Couples who recently married can apply for ration card
Who has a temporary ration card.
Applicants whose ration card has been expired.
Documents required
Documents required for ration card are as follows:-
Identity proof such as Pan card, addhar card, voter ID card etc.
Address proof , domicile certificate, electricity bill, landline bill, water bill etc. If on rent provide receipt.
Photograph of family head
If transferred from one gram Panchayat to another surrender previous ration card.
Validity of ration card
Validity of ration card is up to 5 years,
If expire you can apply for renewal.
Application fee
Ration card application form cost RS.5 in Uttarakhand.
How to apply?
For applying for ration car visit the nearest Tehsil office, Block office, Gram Panchayat,
Revenue office, district magistrate office, district supply office ,common service center.
Get a form by paying an amount of 5rs and fill it with details.
Submit it with prescribed documents to the clerk.
After verifying the documents clerk will provide acknowledgement receipt.
Clear will forward the application to the supply inspector of the concerned area.
Supply inspector will visit home for verifying the details provided.
If all details are correct supply inspector will forward the application to the clerk for issuing the ration card.
If applying for renewal of ration card old ration card have to be submitted with the application.
Duration of process
After submitting the application form, it will take about 15 to 30 days for verification process.
