Life Certificate is a document issued by any authorized authority to ascertain the fact that the person receiving the pension i.e. the Pensioner is alive. This document is a mandatory requirement to be submitted to the Government or the pension dispersing departments by the Pensioner in order to continue to receive their pension.
Jeevan Pramaan
Jeevan Pramaan is a scheme with which a Pensioner can obtain a digital life certificate online. This scheme of obtaining a digital life certificate helps old age pensioners in a major way as they can obtain this online by sitting home and hence need not visit government authorities and face any other related hardships.
Jeevan Pramaan uses the Aadhar number and bio-metrics of a person to generate the digital life certificate.

Documents required for procuring Digital Life Certificate:
- Mobile Number registered in name of Pensioner
- Aadhar Card number of Pensioner
- Bio-metric device which can be connected to a computer or smartphone
- Computer or Smartphone
- Good internet connectivity
Procedure to procure Digital Life Certificate via Citizen Service Center (CSC)
Step 1: Go to Jeevan Pramaan portal: www.jeevanpramaan.gov.in
Jeevan Praman Portal will open as shown below.
Click on ‘Locate a Center’ option in the menu bar.
Step 2: Web page will open as shown below, fill in details of location type, state and district.
Step 3: Once all details are entered, list of Citizen Service Centers will be displayed as shown below.
Pensioner can visit any of the centers so mentioned to procure their Digital Life Certificate.
Procedure to procure Digital Life Certificate via Jeevan Pramaan Portal Online:
Step 1: Go to Jeevan Pramaan portal: www.jeevanpramaan.gov.in
Step 2: Click on ‘Download Option” as shown below.
Step 3: New page will open, type email id and click on ‘I Agree to Download’ as shown below.
Download link will be sent on email id mentioned. Download the software and install it.
Step 4: Authenticate the bio-metric device to be used for User Registration
Step 5: Type Aadhar Card number and mobile number to generate One Time Password (OTP).
Step 6: After verifying identity through OTP provide Name and email id.
Step 7: Verify fingerprint or iris through bio-metric device so obtained.
Step 8: Upon successful verification, pop up will appear saying ‘Device Registration successful’. Now Click on OK.
Step 9: New screen will open, Type Aadhar Card number and mobile number to generate OTP.
Step 10: Verify identity of Pensioner through OTP.
Step 11: New Page will open, fill in all the require details of Pensioner Name, PPO Number, pension type, Sanctioning Authority details, Disbursing Agency details, marital status, employment status etc.
Step 12: Select ‘No Objection’ and verify fingerprint through bio-metric device.
Step 13: Upon successful verification of fingerprint, the digital life certificate of the pensioner will be displayed. The pensioner will also receive a text message with the Jeevan Pramaan Certificate ID on his registered mobile number.

Pensioner can later print or download a copy of the Digital Life Certificate as required.
The agencies of pension can also view the Digital Life Certificate on the Jeevan Pramaan portal upon providing Aadhar number and mobile number of said pensioner.
However, this facility can only be used by the agencies of pension, if the said pensioner has already applied for a Digital Life Certificate online and received a valid Jeevan Pramaan Certificate ID.
