What is AGMARK?
In general terms, the word Agmark is a word created by combining two words Ag and mark, in which the meaning of Ag means agriculture and that agriculture, can be marked. This term was first used in the use of the classification and marking of agricultural products in the Parliament Bill.
The credit for making the whole system, including Agmark’s name, goes to Archibald Macdonald Livingstone, who was an Indian Government Agriculture and Marketing Consultant in British India from 1934 to 1941. Agmark can also be referred to as a certification mark to guarantee quality and standards of farm products. The current Agmark Standards cover 213 agricultural products. These comprise cereals, pulses, oils, etc. When an entrepreneur is requested to certify any of the items covered by the Agmark Certification Program, this process is called the Agmark Registration.

How to register for agmark / certification in India
When we talk about Agmark certification, we will find that it works as a quality benchmark for the products and also ensures the authenticity of the products, since we all know that India is the second largest of the most populous countries. And agriculture is the source of income for most people living here, which is why Agmark Registration was asked to sell and buy agricultural products in retail marketing. As India is a very large exporter of agricultural products, these products should therefore be Agmark certified according to the World Trade Organization.
The Agmark Certification Scheme was launched by the Marketing and Inspection Directorate under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, for domestic trade and export of agricultural products. Although this scheme is voluntary, compound food is essential for the Blended Edible Vegetable Oils and Fat Spread certification Agmark according to the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006. The Marketing and Inspection Directorate (DMI), which has 11 regional offices, 27 sub- offices and 11 regional laboratories in the country, is responsible for implementing this scheme.
Therefore, the person or company interested in classifying and certifying any notified agricultural commodity under Agmark can contact the nearest DMI office. With regard to the application form and the list of required documents, it can easily be obtained from the DMI Office. Interested grading and certification applicants should have access to their own laboratory, such as a required laboratory, such as infrastructure. Prior to packaging, the approved chemist will investigate raw materials and finished goods.
