How to migrate Existing Central Excise & Service Tax Assessee to GST
Current central excise and service tax assesses will be relocated to GST from 30th April 2017 for service providers and 9th January 2017 for manufacturing units. A provisional ID and password will be provided to the assessees by CBEC for easy migration.
For issue of provisional IDs the assessees must have a valid PAN associated with their registration. Allocation of provisional id will be ineligible in following cases-
- An invalid PAN number used for registration
- The PAN is already registered with State tax authority and provisional ID is already provided by state tax authority
- Multiple CE/St registration on single PAN in state. In such case, the 1st registration in alphabetical order will be issued a provisional ID if the above 2 conditions are not met.
To login to GST common portal (https://www.gst.gov.in) the assessees can use this provisional ID and password. After login they need to fill form 20 and attach essential documents before submitting to the GST portal.
Follow the given steps to migrate to GST-
STEP 1: use your existing ACES user ID and password to login to ACES portal
STEP 2: click on ‘click here’ to follow the link to receive the provisional ID and password OR use the MENU to obtain provisional ID step.
STEP 3: note down the provided provisional ID and password. In case provisional ID is not displayed, refer to next step section
STEP 4: after receiving provisional ID and password, login using the ID and password to GST common portal.
