Over the recent times, topics such as the focus on making Aadhaar mandatory for returns of IT, PAN and such declarations are made by the Government of India, connecting PAN and Aadhaar and so on. To clarify such announcements regarding this, the government have passed a new notification where it is stated that quotations regarding Aadhaar have to be mandatory when someone applies for PAN. In simple words, the government has made Aadhaar mandatory for PAN. If someone does not own an Aadhaar but does apply for it, then that person can quote their enrollment ID of 28-digit as well.
In the application form of PAN, the applicant has to note his name the way is it written in the Aadhaar card. The application form for PAN has inserted new columns like 49A for putting down the enrollment ID of an Aadhaar applicant as well as the name of the applicant as detailed in the Aadhaar card. This extra measure is taken in order to avoid overlapping of names in Aadhaar and PAN since a lot of applicants has encountered such problems while connecting Aadhaar to PAN because of the name discrepancy.+
Along with all the aforementioned steps, the applicant, moreover, has to provide the proof of his date of birth during the application for PAN. At present, the evidence of address and the evidence of identity are required. But, it is to be mentioned that from the 1st of July, 2017 to onwards the applicants were also required to attach the certificate of birth, certificate of matriculation and much more. (As per the notification made by the CBDT 56/2017, which is dated as of June 27, 2017). These are the steps required to follow by an applicant since the government has made Aadhaar mandatory for PAN.
